The inspiration behind The Social House sprang from an unexpected source. While running our second startup, the Whatashort Independent International Film Festival, in 2017, we recognized the need for a dedicated platform not just for filmmakers but for a broader spectrum of artists. This realization led to the birth of The Social House, a place where poets, storytellers, stand-up comedians, rappers, beatboxers, and singers could come together to shine
The idea was innovative, but uncertainty loomed. We were pioneering a concept no one had explored before, and the question of whether people would embrace it kept us on our toes.
Our success can be attributed to a winning combination of knowledge in the field, unwavering passion for art, and boundless creativity. This unique blend has enabled us to stay true to our roots and maintain our artistic integrity.
In just five months, The Social House had already become a household name in the poetry and artist circuit. Our YouTube channel quickly gained traction, amassing 50K subscribers by March 3, 2018, and reaching a million subscribers by December 31, 2018. Notably, we were the only poetry YouTube channel invited to perform at YouTube Fanfest in April 2019. We hit two million subscribers in May 2019, and by June 2020, we had set a record as the fastest-growing YouTube channel in our niche
Behind the scenes, my co-founder is not just a business partner but also my life partner. Our journey together in love and entrepreneurship is a testament to our shared dedication to art.
Investors have knocked on our door, but we’ve chosen to remain self-reliant. We believe that art should not be driven solely by profit. Our focus has always been on nurturing and showcasing artistic talent, without compromise.
Through this unplanned third startup, we’ve learned that sometimes it’s best to jump into action rather than overthink and plan endlessly. Our motto remains: Begin with what you have, follow your passion, and prioritize problem-solving over profit.
